AU History}
The Nasuverse has many branching alternate universes thanks to the concept of the Second Magic, Kaleidoscope. Out of these multitude of universe, one is completely unlike the others.

In this universe, magecraft has decayed drastically since its heyday. By the time of the twentieth century, even the greatest of magi have been required to mingle with human society to sustain themselves. Despite holding grandiose titles, they work for a living as professors or politicians or office workers. In addition, due to this decay, magecraft is no longer inherently incompatible with technology, and more and more magi have turned to technology to bolster their fading magic. Another unique feature of this universe is the lack of the concept known as the Throne of Heroes. Instead, reincarnation is more direct, allowing the heroes of the past to reincarnate as modern day people instead of having their souls collected into a place outside of time and space.

Given these changes, the system of the Holy Grail War, or the Heaven's Feel, does not exist. However, the city of Fuyuki is still a holy spot reputed to increase the power of any magi who live in the city. With this in mind, Kayneth Archibald, the head of an old family of magi, moved his family, including his wife Sola-ui, there in hopes of rejuvenating his bloodline.

Much like the main universe, Sola-ui was born to an old family of magi who hold a high place in the Association. Though the Association and magi as a whole does not wield nearly as much power in this universe, they still had a high social standing among both magi and humans due to their wealth gained from investing in various human businesses. Like in the main universe, Sola-ui was engaged to Kayneth by her family. Again like in the main universe, she did not disagree despite the fact that she did not love her fiancee. From childhood, she had been taught, as all magi were, that a magus' greatest value was to be a collection of knowledge and magic circuits. Since she was not chosen to bear the family's crest, her duty would be to become a political tool and a breeder for the next generation of talented magi. Like in canon, Kayneth was a genius mage given the title of Lord El-Melloi. He and Sola-ui's father were both among the conservative faction of the Association, seeking to return the magi of the Association to older practices (taking up residence in the holiest lands, isolating themselves from human technology) because they believed it was the best way to stop the decay of magecraft. The engagement was an attempt to cement their alliance. Like in the original universe, Kayneth fell in love with Sola-ui, though she did not return his affections. Because there were no complications with the Holy Grail War, Sola-ui and Kayneth eventually married, unlike in canon.

A year after their wedding, Sola-ui gave birth to their first child. Unknown to either of them, he was the reincarnation of Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, the very hero who would be summoned as Kayneth's Servant in the original universe. As in his past life, he bore a mole beneath his eye which gave him the power of the Mystic Face. Like in the original universe, it had the power to make women fall in love with him at least temporarily when they were exposed to it. However, unlike in the original universe, its effect could easily be stopped by covering the spot. Again unlike canon, Sola-ui was never affected by it because Diarmuid was her son. On the suggestion of her older brother Bram, she named the child Diarmuid, after the hero said to have the same power.

However, despite his origins, Diarmuid was not born with much potential as a magus. The amount and quality of his circuits fell far below what was expected for the child of the Archibal and Nuadha-re Sophia-ri Houses. As a result, Kayneth decided that he would require a second child to act as his heir. While Sola-ui agreed to perform her duty as the wife of a magus, she understood that this meant her son would eventually share her fate. This caused her to sympathize with her child and become determined to give him the approval that Kayneth would never give him.

Shortly after her second child, a daughter named Waver, was born, Kayneth moved the family to Fuyuki due to the aforementioned attempt to rejuvenate their magecraft. Due to the large number of magi and weird occurrences in the area, the El Melloi family did not particularly stick out. They led a relatively peaceful life in Fuyuki. Kayneth became a teacher while Sola-ui adjusted to being a housewife. Their children attended school and they were, at first sight, a normal family.

Of course, even though they adjusted to life as a "normal" human family, they were still magi. Once the children were old enough to understand the concept of magecraft and the inheritance of crests, Kayneth told both children that Waver would be his heir. To the surprise of both parents, Diarmuid bore no resentment over this and instead vowed to be Waver's knight. This led to complications during the year that Waver turned fifteen. She was assaulted in the library by a strange man in a hoodie, only to be saved by another strange man, a giant named Iskander. Shortly afterwards, the two began dating and, in celebration, Iskander gave Waver a Saber figure. Diarmuid, who had always been protective of his sister, criticized Iskander's choice of present as perverted. However, Waver fiercely defended her friend. During the argument, Diarmuid knocked the figure off its stand and Waver risked injury to herself to keep it from being damaged. When he saw how much Waver valued Iskander and his present, Diarmuid was devastated and ran away from his sister, but he tripped and knocked over their mother, who was emerging from the kitchen. Fortunately, Kayneth, coming home from work, saw it and caught his wife and son as they fell.

And it is at this canon point that Sola-ui is transported away from her home.

Personality}
Like her canon self, Sola-ui hides her true feelings under a mask. However, unlike her canon self, the mask is less that of a cold, aristocratic lady than it is that of a competent, caring housewife. Like her canon counterpart, she comes off as calm and unflappable. She is well aware of her role as the wife of a magus and ultimately defers to her husband's decisions, though she argues with him as he makes them and derides him if his decisions lead to something disastrous. She acts as a dutiful mother and educator for her offspring, reminding the two of them, especially Waver, of their responsibilities and their fate as magi. Because she had to adjust to being a housewife, she is slightly more flexible in the face of change than her counterpart is. Given her age and role as a parent, she's also just a little more mature and patient than in canon. Unlike her canon counterpart, she actually has some experience with housework. While she cannot be called an expert housekeeper, she still keeps her house more or less in order.

Even as a housewife, Sola-ui is a prideful woman. She will brook no insults to herself or her family. Like her canon self, she is haughty and condescends slightly when she talks to others. Also like her canon self, she is always ready to criticize and belittle other people. In a way, her pride is justified since she, like her canon self, is good at plotting and prepared to be ruthless to achieve her goals. Basically, she's the epitome of a magus.

However, like her canon self, her cold exterior hides a passionate interior. Differing from canon, her all-consuming love is maternal instead of romantic. She channels all of her kindness into her children, especially Diarmuid. Because he was not chosen as heir, Sola-u knew that Diarmuid would eventually share her fate of becoming a political bargaining chip. In addition, his lack of potential as a magus meant that Kayneth would never approve of him. Thus, out of sympathy and pity, she attached herself to her son and swore to give him the love and approval that he would never receive from his father. She loves him to the point of obsession, spoiling him and protecting him. She is always ready to argue with anyone, especially her husband, in defense of her child. These behaviors are very similar to the ones she shows in canon.

Her relationship with her daughter Waver is more complex. In a way, Waver was forced on her because Kayneth wanted a better heir. When Waver was first born, she associated the girl with Kayneth and with the pain that Diarmuid might have to suffer as the "rejected" child. As a result, she was cold and indifferent toward her child. However, when she saw that Diarmuid loved his sister, she resolved to love her for Diarmuid's sake, since she would do anything for her son. In the present day, while not obsessed with her daughter, she still loves Waver dearly and plays the role of the "cool" parent in contrast to Kayneth's "strict" role. This differs from her relationship with Waver Velvet in canon since Waver was neither her child nor Kayneth's heir.

While she loves both off her children, her relationship with Kayneth is more of a love-hate one. Like in canon, she considers herself having been sold to him as a political tool and a breeding mare. This in addition to his arrogance makes her disdain him. However, years of marriage have mellowed her out. Though she cannot completely love him, she accepts him as her husband and tries to act as a faithful wife. She readily admits that he has good traits, and sometimes approves of his actions. Despite all their arguments, she is still attached to him and will defend him against anyone else who insults him.

Still, this softer side of her is only shown to her family. To outsiders, she just seems to be an aloof, semi-aristocratic lady.

Abilities} Sola-ui is a magus, or a "magic" user. However, in her universe, the abilities of magi are more accurately described as “magecraft” and not magic per se. The goal of all magi is to use magecraft or thaumaturgy to replicate miracles, though magecraft can only replicate phenomenon that can also be duplicated with technology. Magecraft works by channeling prana, or magical energy, through a series of pipelines located in the soul called "magic circuits". The circuits are also reflected upon the physical body as a pseudo-nervous system running parallel to the actual nervous system. Using the circuits causes a good deal of pain and a rise in body temperature, something most magi have adjusted to. In addition, some magi, as heirs to their respective clans, hold thaumaturgical crests, a collection of magic circuits from their ancestors. A crest functions as a biological spellbook fused with the magus’ circuits. It simplifies the usage of spells contained within the crest. However, Sola does not have a crest, which puts her at a severe disadvantage against magi who do. Still, as a descendant of the Nuadha-re Sophia-ri family, she has a large number of magic circuits, which are all high quality. She can easily cast healing spells and make familiars, though she is not good with combat.

Baggage} Her clothing consisting of her usual blouse with a bowtie, frilled capris, and flat-heeled shoes.
